2006 - Center Valley

The 6th annual National Miniature Golf Championships were held in Center Valley, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 24th. Contestants represented courses from 12 states as well as Denmark and Sweden. To date the annual event has awarded $60,000 in prize money.

Players in the Harris Cup earned their berth in the tournament by winning a local tournament held at a Harris Miniature Golf built course. Harris has built courses throughout the country. The 2006 Championship was held at Putt U, and sponsored by SGD- Hollrock, Jane Farrell Turf & Carpet, and Master Pitch. The facility boasts two 18 hole courses featuring multiple water systems, sand traps, rough turf and challenging breaking greens.

The tournament got under way with a shotgun start. As players finished the first round, Leader Board was on hand to post the scores and organize the second round. Roger Beckerman of Ohio won first place and walked away with a trophy and a check for $3,000. Hans Olofsson of Sweden took second place after an amazing comeback.

Kevin Lacey, representing Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater, Ohio took a respectable third place.

Each player received a Tournament shirt & cap from Harris Miniature Golf. Putt U. provided a goodie bag for the players as well as holding a Friendship Tournament the day before. The tournament came to a close with a cookout and awarding of prize money and first place trophy.
